Hydraulic press brakes have been a mainstay in the world of metal fabrication shops for decades. In recent years, however, electric press brakes have grown in popularity among fabricators who are cost-conscious, concerned about the environment, or both.
There is a third alternative available for those who want the power of a hydraulic brake with much of the cost savings of an electric one—a hybrid press brake. Hybrid brakes combine servo motors with efficient hydraulic pumps to provide high power, fantastic speed, and incredible precision with some impressive energy savings. Unlike hydraulic brakes where the hydraulic pump is constantly running, hybrid brakes only use their pumps during bending operations.
The B-GENIUS-H Series of hybrid brakes from Revolution Machine Tools save 65% of the energy of hydraulic press brakes while using 95% less oil (also meaning far fewer oil changes). No pressure is lost through proportional valves, leading to very high bending efficiency. The pumping system doesn’t run when the machine is in standby mode, eliminating oil heat up. In addition, these are some of the quietest press brakes on the market, with a noise level of 63db.
